Hayden Roulston is responsible for the perfect start of the 2013 season for RADIOSHACK LEOPARD TREK. Roly won on January 13th his third national road race title in Christchurch after his earlier 2006 and 2011 victories.
Hayden Roulston grew up on the track and he will always hold a passion for the track. At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Roulston won two medals - silver in the individual pursuit and bronze in the team pursuit. Switching from road to track and back again has always been one of Roulston’s strong points as a rider.
In 2011 Roulston suffered a crash while training which ended his early season hopes. A car-versus-bike accident left Roulston with an injured shoulder and left his Paris-Roubaix hopes shattered. The Kiwi rider’s role in the team is indeed to contest the Classics.
Besides supporting Fabian Cancellara, it will allow him to chase what has for a long time been a dream–to be the first New Zealander to win one of the Classics.
