Unlike the majority of his peers, Laurent Didier decided to juggle racing with university studies until 2010, following in his father’s footsteps as a qualified electronics engineer.
Four-time Luxembourg Pro Champion Lucien Didier, who rode the Tour de France six times as a domestique for Bernard Hinault, was indeed also an engineer, able to combine his studies with a succesful cycling career. Laurent Didier’s grandfather, Bim Diederich, was even more succesful, having won three Tour de France stages and holding the yellow jersey for three days.
Laurent Didier is a good climber - he took home the climbers jersey from the 2012 Tour de Wallonie - but as a former Luxembourg Time Trial Champion, he also has a good TT in his legs. When not on the bike, Laurent likes to watch football.
