Matthew Busche became the USA Pro Road Race Champion in 2011. In only his second year as a professional cyclist he won the stars and stripes jersey by narrowly defeating the legendary George Hincapie in Greenville, SC. Only one week earlier Busche had been earning the respect of the American cycling world with a show of selfless riding in support of his teammates in the Amgen Tour of California. In the mountaintop finish stages to Sierra Road and Mount Baldy he showed his abilities as talented climber.
Busche has had a meteoric rise to the top of the sport, beginning his focus on cycling in 2008 after a successful college career in running. He was offered a contract with Team RadioShack in just his second year of racing.
Busche finished his first Grand Tour in 2011 and was runner-up in the 2012 Tour of Utah. In the off-season Matthew Busche likes to take backpacking trips and do some hunting. Austria and Switzerland are his favorite European countries.
