After two disappointing spring classics campaigns not everybody was inspired by the signing of Stijn Devolder at RADIOSHACK LEOPARD TREK but Team Director Dirk Demol made it his personal mission to bring Devolder back to the level of some years ago when he won two Tours of Flanders and four Belgian titles. Devolder could return to the role he always played best – that of the secondary threat. His most important victories arose by being a key teammate of Tom Boonen, the strongest man in the race. In 2013 Devolder can be the teammate that can make the final with Cancellara and take the pressure off of him. Devolder is at his strongest without the weight of leadership.

Devolder, a native of the heart of Flemish classics country, returns to Dirk Demol, whom he worked with in the youth categories as well as in his US Postal/Discovery Channel/QuickStep period. Devolder is at an age where he knows what his capabilities are. He lives for his job and he can enjoy the team’s confidence in him. 

In 2010 Devolder was the first rider to win the national road and TT titles in the same season. Besides his strong classics performances, he won stage races as the Tour of Algarve, Tour of Belgium (twice) and Tour of Austria.
