Coming from the region around Innsbruck, Austria, Thomas Rohregger has grown up with a great love of the mountains. Nevertheless, football had been his sport of choice throughout his teenage years. But when he was 19, he would watch the Tour de France on television and like many people all over the world, became inspired to ride his bike. Jumping on his old mountain bike, he started racing and immediately started winning. This encouraged Thomas to take up road racing, and he quickly found success there too.
Understanding the importance of planning for his future after cycling, Thomas is also in the middle of his Law studies at the University of Innsbruck. Having completed half of his degree, he will now concentrate on his cycling so that he can make the best use of this opportunity.
With a love for climbing and a talent for time trialing, Rohregger has been highly instrumental in the 2011 Tour of Spain and Maxime Monfort’s sixth place in the GC. His 2013 goals will revolve around a good performance at different stage races where he will be happy to ride for the team goals.
